Our LEADER project

Making our site more accessible became a real mission in 2017 when after years of training with Dementia Adventure we hosted our first dementia friendly residential. This highlighted that there were many things that we could do to make the site more accessible for those living with dementia but also more accessible for lots of other groups that have mobility issues.

Camping and glamping and time spent in the great outdoors has so many benefits to health, both physically and mentally and as a business we realised that our site was not as accessible as it could be to some of the groups of people who really had the most to gain by being able to enjoy great holidays in nature.

So our project began and was completed in 2020.

The project was part funded by the European Union and the Scottish government and allowed us to secure match funding to develop the site.

The development included new cabins, some of which are accessible for those with mobility issues with wheelchair ramp access and suitable facilities , hot tubs, BBQ hut, undercover socialising areas, signage, a new website and the creation of a brand new amenities facility (also accessible) for the campsite housed in a renovated World War 2 Nissen Shed.
