Dog friendly fun in Moray Speyside

As dream doggy destinations go, Moray Speyside ticks many, if not all boxes!

With a wealth of walks along The Moray Coast Trail, there is much fun to be had on the dog friendly beaches just north of us here at The Loft. But it’s not just sand and sea on offer, there are also so many beautiful woodland walks, tranquil paths around lochs and adventures to be had with your four-legged friends.

On our doorstep, Roseisle Forest, dunes and beach is a stone’s throw away in one direction, and in the other, Findhorn Bay with its stunning views, wildlife and a couple of cheeky pit stops including The Captains Table, which has its very own doggy menu, The Crown & Anchor and the Kimberley Inn pubs (all dog friendly). If you prefer to explore woodlands with views and history, Quarry Wood near Elgin was a medieval hunting wood and is also just a few miles down the road. Covesea Caves is also a favourite of ours, just a few miles in the direction of Lossiemouth and if you’d like to venue south into the Cairngorms, Aviemore is only an hours drive away.

Don’t forget, our campsite and most of the Wigwam’s welcome well-behaved dogs, perfect for you to relax after fun days spent with your canine companion. We also have a farm walk around the site here for guests to enjoy.

In Moray, we’re also very lucky to have coffee vans dotted about the countryside, ideally placed for a caffeine and cake hit whilst out walking your dog. More info to come on that subject soon!

Local places to eat and drink that are dog friendly

• The Abbey Inn, Findhorn Rd, Kinloss, Forres IV36 3TX – great reviews for friendliness, their food and being pet friendly.
• The Mosset Tavern, Gordon St, Forres, Morayshire IV36 1DY – outdoor seating and ample parking. The dog friendly public bar serves food all day with a traditional bar menu and changing daily specials.
• Kimberley Inn, 94 Findhorn, Findhorn IV36 3YJ, for good, hearty pub grub including wonderful seafood and great desserts. You are welcome to take your dog into the bar which has a cosy fireplace and they also have outside seating looking over the bay.
• The Captain’s Table Cafe, Findhorn Boat Yard, Findhorn, Forres, Morayshire IV36 3YE – wide range of meals and snacks served throughout the day, now open from 9am – 9pm.
• Cafe 1496 79 Forres High Street, Forres – for coffee, cake or food and more.
• Bootleggers Bar & Grill, Hopeman – Great local food, location and interior, dogs are welcome outside and in the bar area.
• The Cawdor Tavern, Cawdor, near Nairn – well behaved dogs are allowed in the bar and outside patio area.
• The Havelock Bar in Nairn.
